I'm not at all surprised the NSMBW did so well. One, it's Mario. Two, it's a mix of classic and new. So, eeeeverybody can play. It's it's not a dumb family/friend game, either- it's actually really good. At GameStop, we ran out of stock of the game multiple times during the holiday season. Of course, Nintendo cut their supply to raise product demand (just like they did with the Wii), and that only made people want it more.
I am surprised, though, that Wii Sports Resort did better than Modern Warfare 2, but that just goes to prove Nintendo's E3 statement- there are more casual/non-gamers than any other kind, and that's where the money is.
As for PS3's new motion controls... pfeh. Unfortunately, I think they'll do well, and I don't want them to. I'm tired of Sony being the gaming-market copycat and making more off of other company's ideas than the creators do. It's time they started working on their own thing. But hey, they don't care. They just want the money. The moment a Wii-hating PS3 fanboy comes in to buy the controller, though, I'm going to rub it in their face that they're all over a Nintendo-based idea.
Aaaand.. FINAL FANTASY! I'm so excited for this! Thank goodness it's coming to 360, because my PS3 broke ages ago, and I just don't have enough to buy another one. I will say I am getting a little tired of the recycled characters, though. There hasn't been a unique-looking FF character (facial features, anyway. Costumes always differ) since IX.
