Default Monster Hunters Tri: No Online Fee for the Western Release

Upon wrapping up a big European Summit, Nintendo answered the question that was plaguing the minds of those who are anticipating the release of Capcom's Monster Hunters Tri possibly charging a monthly fee for online use.

They responded saying "No, it will not". Unlike the Japanese version of the game, the Western release will not charge a monthly online fee to play. Nintendo makes this move on the basis that the Monster Hunters franchise following is not nearly as big in the Western Hemisphere, and charging a monthly online fee would be signing a death warrant for the game.

Keep an eye out for this game to hit US shores sometime in the next couple of months.

The game will be sold as a standalone or bundled with a Classic Controller Pro for $99.95.

Really? Sounds good, but is that in the sense of Guitar Hero 5 and Mario Kart Wii, where it hooks up to your Wii Address Book and finds friends using Wii Numbers? If so, then we're back to square one, really...
