Default How the 3DS Actually Works

Hoagie from Day of the Tenticle explains how Nintendo’s 3DS actually produces its 3D imagery. In fact, it is a bit more complex than one might think. Warning though, you might get a headache from trying to go crosseyed during some of his explanations:

This parallax barrier, it shows more than 2 sources of which light is directed to a specific eye.
The kick in the nuts is the "Sweet spot," limiting you to about a 2-foot distance from the screen. If I want the damn screen in front of my eyes, so be it.
Anyways, I'd say the 3DS will cost $250.

Although I wish the sweet spot was around one foot to a foot and a half I`m still excited for the 3DS. Although I wonder if over extended use of this is going to make my eyes hurt. either way it`s mor eof the awesome game line up that I car eabout and the great new specs than the actual 3D gimmick of the device.

Good find though, it was an interesting watch.
