FIRE EMBLEM: SHADOW DRAGON REVIEW
Published by: Nintendo; Intelligent Systems
Developed by: Nintendo Japan; Intelligent Systems
Console: Nintendo DS
Genre: Turn-Based Strategy/Tactics
Date Released: February 21st, 2009
Gameplay:
As stated above the genre for this game is Strategy, or you may refer to it as tactics. It is turn-based. You also have different units to use, for example, your leader, which is always Marth, then you've got paladins, knights, mages, and curates, which are healers. You can level those units up by reaching a certain level, then attaching a master seal. They could go from stage one to stage two, such as a knight to a general, or a mage to a sage. You move by squares, you have a limit you can go to by movement. every time you level up, you can move further. You get Exp. for every enemy you defeat. And yes, for every enemy killed, a single unit will get the experience. I have to give gameplay a 4/5.
Story:
You're inside your castle, while war is unfurling. Your father has been killed by the Shadow Dragon. You are Prince Marth, about to set off to war, and end the Shadow dragon once and for all. You will go on missions in chapters, pretty much doing the same things as listed above. Great story. 4/5
Graphics:
They use nicely-colored sprites on the map, and great 3D for battle sequences and action. Graphics = 5/5 for the DS.
Sound:
The music here rocks! You've got great battle music and map music. Try it for yourself. 5/5
Multiplayer:
Never actually tried the multiplayer with others, just on practice. You pick a team of five, and you use that team to win. Could've done better with multiplayer... 3/5
Replay Value:
I have to say, I have played through the story three times. I love it. It is a very long story, though, so it should keep you entertained for hours. Gameplay is somewhat repetitive, but wht can you expect? 5/5
Overall:
I have to say, overall, this game gets a 4/5, because it's just all-around great.
