I need someone to explain to me how to calculate linear velocity.

For example teach me how to solve:

What is the linear velocity (in ft/sec) of an 8-in blade rotating 72 rev/min?

Eck I gave the problem a shot, tell me what I did wrong if I messed up.

My Work Note: whereever I say 3.14 I am referring to Pi

72 rev/min x ((2(3.14)(4))/1) x (1/60)

My Answer

30.2 ft/sec

Hey there homework help thread! Long time no see!

Anyway I got some questions for all you smart folks.

Subject: Trig

I can't figure out how to do any of these...

Find all real numbers in the interval [0,2π] that satisfy each equation. Round approximate answers to the nearest tenth.

1) sin(-x) = sin(x)

2) 3sin(squared)x = sin (x)

3) 5sin(squared)x - 2sin(x) = cos(squared)x

4) tan(squared)θ - 2tanθ - 1 = 0

answers are probably in set notation {x|x= } and I'm pretty sure each one has 2 to 4 solutions... I need coaching.

arc AD
arc BC
arc BCA
arc DCB
for some reason i just don't understand circles. :/

We know that the circumference of a circle is:

C (circumference) = pi x d(diameter)

If we take a section of the circumference, we'll call it a sector (s).

A circles arc length or sector (s) can be found by using the angle (theta) of the sector.

To correlate pi and theta; pi is a full revolution or 360 degrees, theta is whatever degrees you want. In this sense, I'm not provided with an angle.

A formula for arc length is s=r(theta)

You would simply need to substitue for the values.

Unfortunately, for your problem I would need another variable to continue. Is there a measure for any measure for angles, or length of diameters?

EDIT: If you have a picture, that could help.

The sum of infinte 0.5x + 0.5?

That looks like a mess to me. Take a picture of the problem and put it in as a image, that might help a little for me.
