Current State of MK DS Wi-Fi?

So, I went to play Mario Kart on my DS for the first time online.

First match I went and only got one person to race against.

The next time we had a full race.

So what is the current state of the MKDS Wi-Fi? Is it impossible to get regional races?

Yea you can play Regional only that you would need lucky as not many people connect to that server.
