PS3 Adopts Motion Controls

Say hello to the PS3mote!

Looks like everyone wants a piece of the Motion-controlled cake. Sony has jumped into the mix to respond to the extremely popular Nintendo Wii and the Microsoft's Project Natal with their own spin on the new gaming craze.

SCEA senior director of corporate communications Patrick Seybold promised new motion controls for the PS3 by the end of 2010.

"2010 will offer entirely new gaming experiences to consumers as we launch MAG, God of War III, 3D Gaming, and the new motion controls this year."

Sony originally announced this revolution at E3, and said to expect the new motion controls by Spring 2010, but I doubt they will deliver. The Playstation 3 has already had some implication of motion controls in previous games such as Lair, but they extent was minor, and this appears much more Wii-esque in nature.

Will is be a bang, or a bust? Share you opinions.

The game is going to have its own website where fans can follow its progress (similar to Super Smash Brothers Brawl during development). Wow! i am surprised Nintendo racked 1st place with New Super Mario Bros. Wii, my favorite game ever beside Mario Kart for Wii Online.

Of the Sony motion sensor, that is old news as Sony did a preview of their looking wii controller clone for PS3 sometimes on 2007, you can use google for a picture of it. However that is a bad move for Sony to try and be like Nintendo for their sensor technology, I mean what they can do with it since there is no good PS3 games for that i think.

I'm not at all surprised the NSMBW did so well. One, it's Mario. Two, it's a mix of classic and new. So, eeeeverybody can play. It's it's not a dumb family/friend game, either- it's actually really good. At GameStop, we ran out of stock of the game multiple times during the holiday season. Of course, Nintendo cut their supply to raise product demand (just like they did with the Wii), and that only made people want it more.

I am surprised, though, that Wii Sports Resort did better than Modern Warfare 2, but that just goes to prove Nintendo's E3 statement- there are more casual/non-gamers than any other kind, and that's where the money is.

As for PS3's new motion controls... pfeh. Unfortunately, I think they'll do well, and I don't want them to. I'm tired of Sony being the gaming-market copycat and making more off of other company's ideas than the creators do. It's time they started working on their own thing. But hey, they don't care. They just want the money. The moment a Wii-hating PS3 fanboy comes in to buy the controller, though, I'm going to rub it in their face that they're all over a Nintendo-based idea.

Aaaand.. FINAL FANTASY! I'm so excited for this! Thank goodness it's coming to 360, because my PS3 broke ages ago, and I just don't have enough to buy another one. I will say I am getting a little tired of the recycled characters, though. There hasn't been a unique-looking FF character (facial features, anyway. Costumes always differ) since IX.

Well Modern Warfare 2 is multi-plat. Put together 360, PS3 and PC sales and it's more than triple what Resort got.

Also, I know we all have our own opinions and everything, but I'm think quite the opposite form your Wii/PS3 opinions. Honestly the motion control thing is already getting tiring, Nintendo has turned away from the majority of it's fans. I only enjoyed a handful of games on the Wii and comparing them to their predecessors they haven't gone a long way. PS3 by far has the best hardware and has a vast variety in terms of soft ware, as does the 360. Nintendo to me now has gone the path of Twilight, so much hype that the media stepped in and has over blown it creating more hype. Even with Halo and CoD but in the end they are still good games, I did enjoy some game son the Wii but it just feels like Nintendo isn't even trying anymore. I'm sticking with them for pokemon, Zelda and fire emblem but IMO their hardware is fail.
