Sorry to necropost, but I thought I might give reviving this thread a shot.
So, I have a few favorites. One of them is TLoZ: Phantom Hourglass. A lot of people didn't like this game, but personally, I loved it. I thought the controls were very smooth and easy to get used to, and the characters were fantastic. It kept the humor from The Wind Waker, but unfortunately, the villain was a little... underdeveloped, to say the least. Still, the story was a nice throwback to Link's Awakening/DX, and there were even little bits and pieces of A Link to the Past thrown in the mix. It was nice to see what happened to Link and Tetra after TWW.
Another favorite is Knights in the Nightmare. This game is nuts. It's like an insane mixture of Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Ikaruga, and an overdose of speed. Great story, challenging gameplay, and bullet hell. It's frustratingly difficult, and that's something I like. Too many games these days, in my opinion, are too easy. KitN is definitely challenging, and I had to apply a screen protector to my DS so I wouldn't scratch it to hell like a feral cat.
EDIT:
Hah, silly me, I forgot to include Phantasy Star 0. I love, love, loved the original, and since that one, it's felt like the games were doing down the toilet. This game, though, is really fun and addictive. They brought back mags, so that makes me pretty happy. There are downsides, however: no full chat with people online, no waiting lounge area, and the game lacks good weapon/armor customization. On top of that, it's really easy to level... at first, anyway. It does pick up when you unlock the more difficult modes, and online play is a lot of fun despite the wall in communication. Story mode is good the first time around, and there are minor changes to it depending on which class you choose to play. I really do enjoy this game.
