I never got a DSi simply because I couldn't afford one. No GBA port? No problem- games will be coming to the virtual shop. It's not that they're trying to rid us of backwards compatibility, it's that they're trying to move on to new technology. Why use those old cartridges if you can simply download the games onto an SD card.
Most kids these days have iPods and other expensive junk.... for people like me who don't have money (or aren't spoiled by their family), the DSi is an ideal device.
It's still pretty expensive IMO, so I'll just wait for the price to drop when the DSi XL comes out. That way, I can get a used one with my employee discount. :> For now, the only thing stopping me is that it's just too expensive.
