Why the Nintendo Wii leads the console wars

The Nintendo Wii is just punishing the competition. My hat's off to Nintendo for what they have done. Gen Digi wrote a great article on why the Nintendo Wii stays on top.

So what do you all think? Why is it such a phenom? Also, if you're going to comment on this thread...please keep an open mind. I love my Xbox 360 and I owned a Nintendo Wii so I know why it can be so much fun.

Ever since Wii sports was voted the best wii game of it's front line, or the first games that came out, Nintendo's been throwing us trash after trash. You love your wii, how many games do you enjoy, how long did you enjoy them? Wii has a short list of GOOD games. And although i'm a Nintendo fanboy i think Wii was not so much a mistake as a mislead path. I love brawl and Zelda and Fire Emblem. But Ocarina of time came out in 1996 and it has been named the number 1 game EVER made. Literally theres a book about it. Paper Mario came out in 2001 and it was way better than the two sequels that never even sold many copies while it's predacessor was the best game of it's year. Majora's mask came out in...i think 1998 and was named the second best zelda game, depending on your opinon between it and OoT, where as Twilight Princess is third or fourth depending on opinion between it and Wind Waker. Super Mario RPG, That Super Mario game for Nintendo 64 was amazing, they remade it for the DS changing nothing and everyone loved it. Super Mario Galaxy was alaso amazing but to tell you the truth i'm not a fan of 3d Mario games. and as for brawl and melee. theres a huge argument about which is better and the difference is hardcore gamers from casual gamers choose different sides. Wii has graphics equal to Gamecube but now it has online that isn't that great and motion controls that weren't needed because people never cared back then and i don't think they'd miss it. Nintendo lost it's ways, in my opinion the only games that got better through wii are Galaxy Metroid Prime and Fire Emblem. 3 games isn't a very big number. I'm sure there are some really fun and creative games out there but as far as i'm concerned i miss all the old N64 games and i'm sure alot of people remeber pokemon stadium yet have a bad taste in their mouth from pokemon battle revolution or donkey kong 64 yet the only donkey kong game on the wii is barrel blast which got a 3 out of 5 or lower. Love your wii but i'm a GC 64 NES SNES fanboy 4 life.

Nintendo does so well because they know their audience well. A bunch of mindless retards who are not looking for games with good quality, but rather pointless minigames that you can pick up whenever and at your convenience. And since there aren't as many hardcore gamers as there are cross-eyed invalids, the Wii will inevitably rack up more sales than the other two consoles.

Although Nintendo is ahead in the race...they really are a bunch of pricks as well. You have some gall if you can sell a Wii game for $60 and put half a person's effort into it. You can't compare a game like Metal Gear Solid 4 to Mario Galaxy and say they are worth the same price. Hell, Playstation is giving us a deal compared to Nintendo. They use Blu Ray Discs with years of information on it while Nintendo is still using DVD quality discs.

From what I can tell, most people buy the Wii and Wiifit and never buy anything else. Wiifit is an exercising game for god's sake. You can do that with a weights and a good jog and not have to pay around $400 for it. I am truly baffled how good the Wii is doing. There must be some real die-hard fans out there. Nintendo is finished in my eyes. I guess society isn't looking hard enough to see that the company is dead inside.

It's only a matter of time before I get banned from this site for all of this bashing. Just so you know I was excited for the Wii when I had originally joined this forum. I guess I should just leave at some point...make a forum called Wiihaters or something.

Great post everyone, the Wii is all about the wireless experience. This is something new to everyone and I think the masses have been drawn in. People over 50 who have never bought a gaming system are buying the Wii Fit bundle because it gets them moving and the low to moderate exercise crowd doesn't like the boring weight workout last time I checked. This console has something for everyone(all demographics) and the numbers are proving it!!!!!!

and like i've said before a whooping 7% of zelda fanboys are over 65(and that's just the fan boys). they're favorite game is OoT which some of them say they played with their grandchildren. any of you remember when mario was on the news for his first own game? i don't but i've seen a video of it he was the BIGGEST franchise of all. Now he's being pushed to the side by a game where you can basically stand on your own two feet and exercise yourself. everyone gets bored of wiifit after 2 weeks.
