compromise or retaliate?
Well, i was having a debate with some people, and a question came up; compromise or retaliate? Basically, imagine a situation were a friend of yours did something offending to you. Would you rather sit down with said friend, and explain why this was offending, why they should not do it again, and how you felt personally? Or would you you take action and punish them? Or both? Either way, there is a positive and negative result; if you compromise, no damage is done, but then they realize there was no punishment, and might think they can get away with it. If you retaliate, they see you mean business, but damage is done, and they might retaliate back. Then there is the factor of which situation you are in, what if you are owner of a business, and a worker is slaking off? Or a Father/Mother and your child is misbehaving? Or you are out in public and a stranger comes and mugs you?
I would personally do a little bit of both, try to compromise, but if that fails, induce punishment.
