I still remember the moment clearly,
When he looked at me and asked for my heart,
When he took my hand and held me dearly,
I knew then we could never be apart.

I don't know how it came to be,
But somehow I now belong to him,
And it doesn't make any difference to me,
Because if I could I'd always be with him.

The word love meant nothing to me before,
I see now how blind I was back then,

I awake in biting cold,
My heart trying to see past the night of old,
With it's nightmare hidden within,
But the daylight comes through the window thin.

Perhaps it would be easier to sleep,
But I know that inside me, deep,
