Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon
Introduction
The popular Harvest Moon games have came out with a game called Rune Factory: A Fantasy Harvest Moon. This game is not your typical Harvest Moon game; it is more of fighting than farming. Rune Factory still shares the same traits from the Harvest Moon games, such as: growing crops, mining, and getting married. Though there have been some new activities to do, such as exploring caves and foraging weapons. In this game, you are the hero, who doesn’t remember his past, but then you meet a young lady named Mist. Mist helps you by giving you tools, and giving you her unused farm.
Gameplay:
In Rune Factory, you can explore caves and fight vicious monsters lurking in them. You keep fighting until you reach the end of the cave, where the boss lurks. You can level up your skills in many ways. Train yourself with a weapon, so you can slay the monsters and raise your stats! Raising stats like defense and attack will make you stronger; you can equip items to raise your stats as well. When equipped with a special tool, you can make the monsters work for you, each with certain abilities; some may help you in combat, others can harvest crops, water crops, or give you produce. With the requirements, you can get married and overtime, you can get a child of your own! There is a wide variety of girls to choose from. There are festivals and holidays to help you raise love and friendship points with the residents of the village, and you can participate in contests to win prizes! In addition to fighting, you can forge your own weapons. This game also includes Nintendo Wi-fi Connection; you can trade items and weapons with a friend. This game can keep you pretty busy.
Replay Value:
Well if you managed to get married, you’re basically done with the game, but if you did not beat all the caves you have something to look into. If you want that child badly, you can keep playing until your wife becomes pregnant. You can also try to get more money to buy the items you need, or want for that matter. Like I said before you can get pretty busy by this, so you can still have fun beating up those monsters or whatever you want to do.
Sound:
This game has great sound; every cave has its own music. Not to mention that the seasons have their own music as well. Each character has a different voice, too. The sound effects for using the tools are somewhat realistic.
Graphics:
The environments in the game look pretty good, but the characters don’t look as great. But the DS games don’t have much of a good reputation with graphics, either.
Overall:
Overall, Rune Factory is a great game. It’s worth buying if you like action-adventure games. This game won’t get boring, it’ll entertain you for awhile. It’s a very interesting game for the DS. A must have for Harvest Moon Fans!
