Here's a little guide about "Reputation" and how it is used on our forums.

Q) What is Reputation?
A) Reputation is to acknowledge users that have been a help to you, or you think have benefited the community. Reputation is optional. You are not required to give it out in any way.

Note: Reputation has many names: REP, Reputation, or Karma.

Q) What does REP look like?
A) Here is what REP looks like, star icons:

Q) What does Red REP represent?
A) It's negative REP, meaning you've done something that doesn't deserve positive karma. Having many Red REP boxes isn't a good thing.

Q) How do I give out REP?
A) Reputation is given in points. There is a green, 1UP mushroom icon on the top right of every post, that you click to give reputation points to the user's post.

Q) How do I view who gave me Reputation?
A) The main index of the UserCP is basically your reputation panel. It shows your current REP points; who gave you points when, where, and why.

Note: You need to have karma to view it on your UserCP.

Q) Can I choose how much REP I add?
A) No. The amount of reputation you give is based on many statistics, such as how long you have been registered, how many posts you have, etc. This is called "REP Power". To view your current reputation power, go to your UserCP.

Q) What is that black colored REP?
A) It is locked reputation, meaning you cannot gain or give karma. Some staff members will have it, it's their choice.

Q) Can I ask for REP?
A) We encourage members not to ask for REP. Asking for reputation isn't a good thing. You have to earn it.
