The Protection of The U.S.

All know us, many fear us, are we the greatest Country to hold land on Gods Given Earth?

The security of the United States is said "to be like a glove on a hand" protecting us from other Nations harm.

But what about inside these walls? Whjat protection do we have here in the States? If you get a restraining order out on someone and they visit you one night, what are you going to do, throw it at them?

"Like Great Nations Before us, We Shall Rise And Fall, Only To View Our Demise Was Standing Before Us" - Henry David Thoreau.

The world we live in is a dangerous place, that is true. But just because our shores are safe, the air above us is guarded, and the evils that approach us are sustained, what stops an innocent child from being Murdered in our on back yard?

Opinions or information about this Subject Greatly Accepted here.

"And this is our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tounges in trees, brooks in running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything' -William Shakespeare

I really think the US is way overprotective. Cuz now people say America's very past time is not baseball, but sueing eachother. And with schools, dodgeball is banned. I mean come on! Our parents played it in their young days and they came out alive...So why are they taking so many actions to "bore" up the schools. Kids should enjoy themselves. This is being OVERprotective.

and of course the US will fall eventually. The Great Republic of Rome, which many compare the US to, DID fall. It's only a matter of time.

Thats a very well written explanation, and yes the U.S. will fall, as time has a way of repeating itself.

I am not going to advertise a site, since it is a popular one at that, but if you are interested in seeing all the things that have changed in the Us from way back when, to now, you will be surprised.

Just google: Past to Future changes in history, it will be there, and its very informative on what you speak of Poke..

The US is just stupid. We follow this very strict policy of Democracy, yet the way we choose to govern through it is broken. The idea that people can choose what they want for themselves. Well, why then should we force people to choose Democracy? They should want it themselves, we shouldn't have or want to force it on people. If we want others to do it, we should get a grip on how we do it ourselves first. I can't tell you the last time someone used the idea of "free speech" and actually got away with it.
And then there are laws. Our laws are there to help protect us, to be a fortress for us to hide behind. Yet with the thousands of lawers out there, they proove every day that our judicial system is flawed and has many, many cracks and glitches that can easily be seen. Yet nobody does anything.
Murders and killings are commonplace nowadays. Maybe not in certain areas, but it's not uncommon to hear on the news " someone found dead...". Then there are the sexual predators, child molesters, gang thugs, our society just isnt safe. Yet what are our polititions doing? They're squabbling over oil and money in different countries and trying to fix their wallets up nice.
Then there are the school systems. What a mess. Just about everything in school is being taken away. I'm surprised they're even allowing kids to have sports nowadays "The poor dears could relate football to terrorism and go on a killing spree". And as POKEMANZ said before me, we can't even play real dodgeball anymore. When we play, we get some soft, safety balls that you can throw maybe a good 2 feet. Yet im sure someone will still get hurt with em and some parent will call up the school, with lawyer in tow, requesting a ban.
I swear, the parents freak out about every little thing, and then when the school says a rightly needed "so what?" then the parents get their $100 cell phones and call up their $1000 attorneys. You know at our school we aren't even allowed to sell sweets anymore? Nobody in the entire school can sell candy, can sell soda, can sell chips, can sell baked goods. How the hell do they expect us to fundraise for anything? They actually expect people to want this crap outside of school for $1 a bag? I don't think so. And don't even get me started on American obesity, I got a whole Martin Lr. King speech drawn up on that subject.
So, in my opinion, America is already in the downfall. We're in debt, the precious oil we depend on is running short, and our society is running dead from the inside. I don't think we're gonna last too much longer, maybe another 50 to 100 years at best. Really kinda depends on if we get in another war or not i think. But meh, what are ya gonna do.

Very well stated Devil, and I too also agree, with just about everything you said.

This subject has a special effect on our lives, whether your ten or twenty, it does. Are actions speak for tommorow and right now we are up stream without a paddle with a foot stuck in our mouth.

I believe in quotes, and it is because they speak of words so true, that deal with Government issues and Democracy hunger powers. The great words of our fore fathers before us were not coincidental, but to be admired and such for the better of our being.

The words that I and Devil Monkey speak, about the U.S. reign soon being over, will come true. Heroes eventually die, and so do the dreams that came to their mind, and I or anyone else to this date can say we have seen George Washigton, or Colombus actually live and well, so its bound to happen.

This whole thread shows the egotism and ignorance that we Americans (yes I am one) show. We believe that our country is the greatest in the world and that no other is better. Well guess what? That is why many countries in the world hate us because we think we are so much better then others. Guess what...we are not! I believe ours is the best society but others that live in other countries also believe their society is just as great or better. Yet we feel it is our mission to make them feel inferior and their society is bad...when it is not.

I am not saying we need to live in isolation because when that happened World War II happened. But people thinking that everyone needs to live like us is just plain stupid. You know what the best system of government is? It is actually an Absolute Monarchy. That is the best government, however it is only good if you have a king/queen that cares about their people. The second best...communism. Yes communism, on paper is a fantastic system, unfortunately people are lazy and officials are corrupt so it will never work in practice. Democracy is a close third but our democracy is not what real democracy is. Our first President, George Washington, wanted to destroy factions as he knew it would cripple our government, unfortunately it did not happen and we are stuck on a two party system. Our system of government is not the best, it is in my opinion but in the world forum, it certainly isn't as we are the only democracy with a two party system.

Also the arguing that we have a debt is one of the most useless arguments. America has had a debt for all but 8 years of its existence, and that was the time when Andrew Jackson was President from 1829-1837. However, he destroyed the US economy that years after he was president we had many depressions. Arguing that we are in debt now is useless since the United States has been in debt for every year of it's existence except for 8 years, and that led to major economic problems.

I also agree on everything devil said. Obecity is also a HUGE issue in America. And what are they doing to help it? They're getting rid of physical education programs, banning sports, and shortening recess. My old school is making recess 5 minutes shorter every year. I think people need at least a 45 minute recess. In my new school, we don't even have recess anymore. In P.E., we barely get a workout at all. And in 11th and 12th grades, PE isn't manditory anymore. It's only an elective, so of coarse there will be only a few people taking it.

^that was kind of off topic...

well with our school security, it's pretty good. They have cameras and police officers too. The problem is, they don't enforce the rules well. Unless it's something very serious or something minor, they don't say anything. In my school, if you have an iPod out, the teachers tell you to put it away the minute they see it. If a teacher sees a student punch another student or push another student, they rarely say anything about it. Bullying and gang violence is a HUGE issue in schools. A poll was taken and it asked "Have you ever stayed home from school to avoid a bully?" A lot of people said yes. I think it was almost half of the students or even more than half. Sometimes I'm even afraid to go to some places in the school because of gangs. In my bus, there are ALWAYS kids bullying the minors. Last week, some fat kid was trying to sit on me. But i was strong enough to hold him off and I got him to stop :). Things like this happen everyday to almost everyone. The prblem about that is they don't say anything.

Now going back to the US...

The laws are DEFINATLY too strict. It makes the US really sucky. I mean, sure you should feel safe and all that but really. You always hear of these stupid cases where someone sues another person for something unreasonable. Like the one person that spilled hot coffee on themselves and sued McDonalds for a million dollars. That's WAAAY over the top. It's things like this that shouldn't be allowed. If you step on someone's lawn that doesn't want you there, you get sued. You bump into someone by accident, you get sued. It all sucks. My next door neighbors got a document signed by the government or something that says we can't play basketball in our own coldesac. They are really overprotective of their cars. I really wish they moved. Almost every house in my neighborhood has at least two kids, but theirs. They don't belong. They live around kids so they should expect things like this. They need to remember how it is to be a kid. As does the rest of America.

With the two party system, i think that's a good idea. They even sometimes have a third or fourth party. The new parties add new ideas that could be better for america. And yeah, I don't think America is getting out of debt anytime soon...We lose TONS more money buying goods from other countries than we can get making our own products and selling those.

lol, i can't believe I wrote all that. Plus I'm only 15 :O

I think America is way too egotistical. America thinks it's the best, yet we're not. America is in debt of over $3,000,000,000,000. Its been in debt for a long time. We can't even play real dodgeball in school, we can only play with the foam dodgeballs. Just like the Roman Empire, America will eventually fall.

It was a republic before it was reformed into an empire.
