General router question
Ok, earlier today may computer, for what ever reason decided to not turn on. So I took it in to have it checked and repaired. Of course, I get home and just keep wondering how I will make it a day or two without the Internet. For some reason, I tried to connect on the Internet Channel and wouldn't you know it here I am. Now I am nowhere near a technical person but how is my modem and wireless router working still with no computer around?

this is what I was told by a smart guy: "rotors are on all the time if you don't unplug them,no matter if your pc is off."
I'm wrong most of the time on this stuff, so I may be wrong.

A router and a modem don't need to be working with the computer on, If the computer is turned off, but the router and Modem are still on, any other object such as a Nintendo Wii can still pick up the signal. The Nintendo Wii/DS connect directly to the router and not the computer itself.

Well, most Routers and modems do not need the computer.
After you download the software onto the computer for the router and the modem, the computer can be unplugged and still the router and modem would function like they should.
The computer serves as a host for the software process, then after that there is no need for a computer, if you do not have one or want one..

Wow did not know all that, I knew the router and modem worked with the computer off but I did not know it could be unplugged and still work. Thanks for the lesson, and by the way, the button simply fell off in my computer. Had it replaced, doubled my memory, and back on my computer. Makes typing here a lot easier then using the Wii Remote

You could always buy a USB Keyboard for your Nintendo Wii XD

I thought about that and I really do not need to since I rarely use the Internet Browser. If I do start using it more or a game comes out in the future where a keyboard would make things easier I will probably get a cheap one.

In the case of a modem and router, it's the opposite of the Wifi Connector. The wifi Connector needs the computer on for the wii to have internet. With a modem and router, the router and modem need to be on for the computer to have internet. The modem/router is the supplier of the internet and the Computer is taking it, when with the Wifi connector, the computer is the supplier and the connecter/wii is taking it.
Maybe that'll help you in the future with similer questions...
