Jeff's Simple signature Tut. (GIMP)
Well here it is, an Incredibly simple tut for a gimp new user. This is my first one so if it's bad sorry =D
Basically the only things you need are. GIMP A background:BACKGROUND And a render: RENDER! This is what we're gonna make ![]() ( you can skip this step if you save the back ground from above.) 1st off start by going to file>>new>>then Make your image size 400 x 130 this will very depending on the size you like. ![]() next press CTRL+O to open you images get the render out, also do this for the background now you should have both images open in separate tabs so now go to the render and I'd suggest for you to scale the image by pressing SHIFT + T make sure you have the image size the way you want it and add it to the background. Press CTRL + H to Anchor the render down to the background. Next go to your layers tab and Duplicate your image twice. (image coming soon) You next select the middle layer and use grain merge with 100% opacity (image coming soon) Now go to your GIMP tool-bar and select the following two colors Blue 6c6cba Orange e77d15 ![]() Ok this may be as difficult as it gets here... Go to the top layer and go to the image. Select filters>> Colors >> Maps >> gradient map. it should turn out kinda odd looking. You then go to your layers tab and but your top layer as Color, and give it an opacity of 80%. ![]() your signature should know look like this. ![]() It's not the best but it's simple, and looks decently good. Now to add a boarder. Merge all layers together and make a new layer on top. Make sure you change you two gimp colors back to black and white.. Next choose the top layer and go to your image and press CTRL+A to select all and now go to Edit and choose stroke selection (remember to make sure your gimp color is black). Next pick line width to 10 and press stroke. Then repeat with white at line width at 8, then black again at 5. You should now have this: ![]() Now your almost done. Go to you layers and select overlay for your boarder layer! Now Merge the two together and look you have a signature! Now this isn't the best way of creating an awesome signature so here's a link to a great site for tuts. Hope you have good luck and here's how your brand new simple signature should look like or almost look like =D ![]() For everyone I suggest trying new things and always experiment. The only way you'll find a style of sig making you like will be by trying different things! I also suggest of using Deviant arts for backgrounds and renderplant.com for your renders! Good luck to everyone! And if you have questions feel free to pager or PM me =D

Well you can look for an up-to-date version on google by searching "GIMP download", but this isn't the right place to post this question.

Im having troubles with the tutorial I keep trying to anchor the renders (i have 2 renders) to the background, but it won't. Jeffy I did try Ctrl+H but it didn't work and I check apprerently the anchor option was disabled no clue how. I had my background, my 2 renders, GIMP, and a untitled page opened.
