R.O.B stands for Robot.
He's from the original Nintendo.

It stands for Robot but he isn't really in a game. I believe he is an accessory (it plays games) for NES, if you give R.O.B. a controller, he can play games, unlike most robots. I think he's meant for multiplayer games, so you can actually play someone. And I don't know if this is all true. =p

In Japan R.O.B actually is just a shorter acronym for Robot. Because the Japanese Famicom didn't call him R.O.B they called him Robot.
I was merely explaining that R.O.B actually stands for Robot.
(And yes I overused the word Robot >_>)
That's what R.O.B's name truly stands for. Robot Operating Buddy is just the Americans version >_>.

R.O.B. = Robotic Operating Buddy in America at least. In Japan it was simply the Famicom Robot.

Nothing. He's just a lil Robot Buddy that could play a game or two, or something like that. Gyromite and Stack-up are those games actually. But I guess you could say he is from a lab or where ever things like this are created. xD

There were other robots? lulz xD Basically it is just a simple machine that played pointless games that you had to kinda interact with. It was different for it's time you could say.
