That's kind of true, but it is animation, so you can argue it's a cartoon, but the real name would probably be animated series, hence anime.

The only way it's similar to a cartoon is that it is drawn and not live action. People associate cartoons as children's shows, but anime is more than that so in that sense it is not a cartoon at all. |

Some adults don't understand. But Anime dives into more complex stories, and have a point each and every episode (continuing from the previous episode and the plot stays the same throughout the series). Where as cartoons there isn't any point to anything made, it's always something random all the time. True they are both animation, but some adults need to understand the difference between a cartoon and an Anime (I have yet to convince my friends otherwise, they still have it dead set that Anime is a cartoon..)

I am not a big fan of the new Animes coming out, and most of them are very overated.
I have been a big fan of Anime for quite some time, and the only recent Anime worth watching is Full Metal Alchemist.
As for my favorite, Cowboy Bebop takes the cake, the brilliant characters, the episodes, the type of Anime is incredible to me.
Rorouni Kenshin also is an awesome show, to bad to see them go from Adult Swim, but Bebop stills comes on SCi Fi.
