Chapter 10-Search



Cetos stayed silent. “Cetos what is the an..” “ That is something we have no time to discuss, stay silent and move quickly.” I turned away from Cetos and kept up to him as best I could. After a little while of running Cetos came to a halt. Cetos looked around and then stared off into the night sky for a second. “ Come” Cetos said as we took off running once again. as I was running I started to run out of breath Something flashed in my mind “ C’mon man you gotta keep up!” Was it..something from the past? Was I beginning to regain my memory?

After a bit more of running we reached a town as the sun rose into the sky. “ What is this place?” “ Were in Reo Post, the evil one was sighted here as well as a Sitorian and a Young red haired man who attacked Setori a few days ago, before leaving 1 of our men was slain in the alley, 2 others near the center of the town. They’ve escaped somewhere into the fields outside the town. Tensi I want you to head out of the south entrance and search for them, I will continue to search for any clues as to there whereabouts and clean up this mess, Im counting on you Tensi, Don’t prove me a bad judge of loyalty” “ I’m on it!”
I sprinted for the south exit and grinned. “One step closer to getting back my memory” I thought.

After running for a short amount of time I nearly collapsed onto a rock. I realized I was still very tired from the run to Reo Post. At that time I heard a loud noise, like a butchers knife slicing through meat. As I turned and looked over the other side of the rock I saw Setori fighting someone. The red haired guy Cetos told me about. Setori’s arm twisted into a mutated blade of some sort. He charged his opponent, there blades met and suddenly Setori jumped back and reformed his arm. A man had appeared by the red headed kid’s side..A man who greatly resembled Cetos. “Theres 2 of them now, you may assist.” I grinned realizing Setori knew I was there the whole time. I cloaked my face under the hood and jumped to his side.

I saw that the Red haired guy was off guard and took my chance to attack. I charged towards him and made a horizontal cut across his chest. “ Too easy” I thought. My ego taking advantage of me he drove his knee into my stomach and attempted to cut me with a vertical slice, I avoided it and jumped back to Setori’s side. He lowly whispered “ Go after the girl, she is the evil one” Before I hadn’t even noticed the girl. Now I saw her running towards a high cliff and I quickly pursued her. As we reached the tip off the cliff I saw that she had no place to go. This evil one, had taken my memory, I cant remember my family, friends, home, nothing because of her. All I could think to say was “ I’ve got you now you evil bitch!” as I brought my blade above my head and prepared to end her life with triumph. I felt myself falling. The red headed man had grabbed me and tossed himself and I over the cliff. As I raised my blade and prepared to strike in midair my hood fell, and His face became as white as snow. “ It…cant be..Tensi!?”

Chapter 11-Forgotten


Why was he here? How did he escape the ruins? And why was he attacking me as if he didnt know me? He seemed caught off guard by me calling his name.So many questions ran through my head, for a moment I'd forgotten I was falling. After refocusing a few meters above ground I drove my blade into the wall of the cliff, halting my fall just below the ground. Simultaneiously Tensi bounded off of the wall and onto the lowermost branch of a nearby tree.

"How do you know my name? Who the hell are you!?" "Tensi.. What are you talking about? Its me Hayate, whats wrong with you?" Tensi jumped down and rose his sword and pointed it towards me. "I won't ask you again, How do you know my name?" " Tensi what the hell is wrong with you?!, why are you acting as if you don't know who I am?!" Tensi gritted his teeth and lunged. I rose my katana in a horizontal fashion and blocked his attack. " Last chance!, How do you know my name!?"

As I saw Setori appear behind us I leaned forward and pushed Tensi back. Tensi retreated to Setori's side, Tensi lowered his stance and prepared to attack again, Setori held out his arm and stopped Tensi from attacking. "What have you done to him Setori!?" " Tensi do you see the threat of the Sitorians now? They've already gathered information on you and are trying to confuse you"

"Liar!, Tensi Don't believe him! He's the one trying to confuse you!" " I think we've heard enough of your lies today. Come Tensi, we must find Cetos and regroup, I have no doubt that fool Leo will soon be here" Setori rose his right arm to the sky and uttered a few words. A black mist began to surround them, and then in a flash they were gone.

Chapter 12- Core

I slammmed my fist into the wall of the cliff " Dammit!, what the hell is wrong with him!? he...pretended like he didnt even know who i was." " Get over it" Ramon was approaching me from behind now. " Oh and dont worry Marsa is fine, great idea leaving her on top of that cliff by the way, questioning someone trying to kill you while the world's only true hope is completley undefended doesn't seem like a bright idea, but hey i've never been a smart guy." " I get it!, i shouldn't have left her like that.."

" A foolish mistake but the Angel is safe, thats all that matters now." A familiar voice hid behind the man in robes. Once he approached it became clear that it was Leo. Ramon grinned. " Long time no see Leo, Wheres Yetoro?" Leo stopped in his tracks and stared at the ground. A look of hatred and despair spread across his face as he shook his head. " They took him when they attacked the village." Ramon stared into the sky as if searching for something. " Were going to have to worry about that later, We've lost the village and the majority of our soilders, But we do have a bit of good news, we've found The Core." Ramon snapped his head forward and stared at Leo in disbelief.

As Ramon and Leo started to talk i noticed Marsa sitting under a tree a few feet away. She had a look of sadness in her eyes. I walked towards her slowly and sat beside her, She didn't seem to notice me. I leaned down and stared into her eyes. " You ok?" Marsa looked around for a second as if she didn't know where she was. As Marsa turned and looked back at me, she blushed. " Im...Im fine" Marsa's eyes moved slowly to my shoulder. " ..What about you? are you ok?" Before i had a chance to answer Leo made a motioning gesture towards Marsa and I. " Come we must get to the core quickly before he is killed." Marsa quickly stood up " The core is a person!?" " Yes apparently it is a man named Kyro, now come we must get to him immediatly i have no doubt the Setorians have obtained this information as well."

Chapter 13-Shock

I knew the man Kyro, and i'd already told Leo about him, but apparently he didn't remember. as I prepared to take off alongside Leo and Ramon when i noticed Marsa's hand was shaking. " Leo,I think we should split up". Leo stared at me with a puzzled look. " Marsa and the Core are connected. So if either is killed so is the other. The larger group we travel in the more likely we are to be discovered, I can take Marsa somewhere safe, far away from here Whle you and Ramon find and protect the Core."

Leo pondered this for a moment, then slowly started to speak. " Your plan has many flaws, but not as many as the plan of traveling together. Unfortunatley we dont have the time to discuss those flaws, Where exactly is it you plan to take Marsa?" " There may be Setorians somewhere around here, for now lets just it a safe place." " This is not wise, how will we.." " Dont worry about that now, We'll find you." "Alright we dont have anymore time to waste,Ramon lets go, and Hayate... im entrusting you with the fate of the world as we know it." As Ramon and Leo sprinted towards the setting sun Marsa seemed to breathe easier.

" So tell me, Whats the real reason you wanted us to split up?" I was suprised Marsa had already figured out that my plan was nothing more than a shot in the dark. " You think after the incident in Reo post you would realize i'm smarter than I look" I sat under the nearby tree and leaned back against the trunk. I stared at the sky for a second, then closed my eyes and smirked. " Your hands were shaking, I figured it was one of two things, You either didnt wanna be around The core, once you found out it was a person, Or you were still shook up from the fight, And i always go with my first instinct.

For a few minutes everything was silent. " Thanks." Marsa suddenly said. " What for?" " You were right....about both things." " It was no big deal, afterall I didnt need some frightened girl slowing us down." Marsa laughed softly. Once the sun was completley set, and the sky began to turn black I stood up and checked our surroundings. Nothing was in sight, Marsa had fallen asleep under the tree. I approached her slowly and shook her abit. " Marsa cmon, Its time to go." " W..what? Go where?" " A safe place, remember?" Marsa looked even more puzzled than Leo. I laughed quietly. " Cmon, ill carry you until your fully awake." As i lifted Marsa onto my back only 1 word was running constantly through my mind. Home.

As i approached the former village i couldn't help but feel abit nostalgic. As i looked around i saw the park where there always used to be children running and playing. Now it was little more than sand and a few rusted toys. I'd never put Marsa down she fell asleep again and she was much lighter than i thought, so i didn't bother to wake her. As i approached my old home i stopped for a minute. The paint was peeling and the door was halfway off the hinges. The grass outside the house had grown wild, weeds had sprouted up the side of the house. Despite everything that i saw, despite there was no one her but Marsa and I, Despite everything that had gone on in the past few days. I couldn't help but feel happy i was home again.

Chapter 14- Home

" Wh..where are we Hayate?" I turned to Marsa slowly, " The village i used to live in" " It seems like no one has been her for a long time.." " 4 years to be exact, it was the only safe place i could think of." " Wait...you mean you didn't even know where we going?" " would you rather be on your way to the core right now?" " I suppose now and... could we not call him the core, Leo said his name was Kyro..I just hate it when people call me The angel as if i dont have a name, so i guess he must feel the same way."

"So..exactly what happened here?" " Maybe some other time, if not something I really like to talk about" "oh.." Marsa turned and slightly lowered her head. Marsa was silent for a few minutes, Then went back to asking questions. " So, how long do you plan for us to stay here?" " a few days, maybe 3 or 4 then we'll start to search for Leo and the others." " How are we supposed to know where to find them?" " They'll go somewhere familiar, we'll start at Reo Post, assuming the Setorians have cleared out, and from there we'll backtrack." " What about food?" " Theres a town a few miles from here, ill go there once a day" Marsa was silent again. " Do you really wanna know that bad?" Marsa looked up and blushed " Sort of..."

" About 4 years ago this village was filled with people, There was never a dull moment and everyone was friendly. One of the villagers was a traveler, he was very well liked among everyone. One day in his travels he came across a cave filled with rare jewels. His mistake was telling the villagers about it. One day another villager went to a nearby town and got drunk and started telling everyone about the jewels.a few weeks later our town was raided by bandits. Apparently the jewels he found were stolen and had been stored there by the bandits. Everyone in the town, My family friends everyone murdered in cold blood, except for Tensi and I. We were out fishing at the time so when we returned we had no idea about what happened."

" When we returned the bandits were just leaving and unfortunately we were just in time to be captured. One day while the bandits left us tied up while they raided another village we met another prisoner of the bandits. He was a kind man and one of the greatest swordsman i've ever known. Everyday when the bandits left us tied up he would cut the rope and teach Tensi and I in the way of the sword and before they returned. After weeks of training we decided we were finally strong enough and revolted against the bandits and killed them. We would've ran the first day but we realized if we ran they would continue to kill so we decided to train and stop them. Ever since then Tensi and i had been traveling, the man eventually seperated from us. One day we came across some ruins, We decided to keep going but 2 men suddenly grabbed us and brought us into the ruins with them. They said they were being chased by a killer and if we wanted to live we'd come with them."
"I see so thats how you got in this situation.. by the way..What was the man's name?" " His name was Cetos"

Chapter 15-Surrounded

I returned from town, bags in hand and slowly walked into the house. I noticed as I entered that several of the holes in the wall had been partially covered with wood. " Welcome back!" Marsa appeared from the kitchen. "Doing some improvements to the house?" " Well we are going to be here a few more days, I figured it couldn't hurt to fix it up abit and I needed something to do" Marsa was sleeping in a cheerful tone. Marsa reached into the bags I brought from town. " Huh? why'd you get clothes?" "I figured you'd want a change of clothes. I'll be back in abit I got a few sets of pipes from town so im going to try to get water running into the house again through the town well. Call for me if you need anything." I walked out of the house and started walking towards the well when I realized a familiar scent was in the air. The smell of charred wood and cinders hung in the air, The same smell in the air the day the village was Attacked.

I ignored the scent for a the time and went to the town well. As I slowly lowered myself into the well I grabbed the nails, hammer, and pipes I set on the edge. I wasn’t sure at all what I was doing or how it would work, but it couldn’t hurt to try. I went down as far as I could, barely touching the tip of the water. I leaned over slightly and attempted moved down my arm as far as it could go. As I retracted my arm it was covered in an ill slime. The water in the well had long become foul. I prepared to bring myself out of the well, when I started to hear noises. A low crunching rhythm was repeating, I soon realized it was someone softly walking through the nearby playground.

I slowly lifted myself out of the well and as I reached the top I unsheathed my Katana from my side. I looked around and saw no one, heard nothing. I crept towards the house slowly, still nothing. As I reached within a few feet I heard a sudden rustling of trees and footsteps approaching fast. I ran into the house and slammed the door behind me, positioning myself against the wall near the door. Marsa came out of the back room wearing her new clothes. “ So, what do you think?” “ Marsa go find a place to hide, Now!” Marsa looked confused at first then quickly realized what was happening and ran into the kitchen.

I started to sweat, it had been almost a full 2 minutes since I’d come into the house. If I stepped outside they’d probably be waiting on me. I cant look out the window because there’s the possibility there’s 2 or more of them and they split up and one could be waiting by the window. All I could do was wait. I could hear footsteps outside the house, slowly circling the area. I couldn’t wait any longer as I prepared to swing open the door and go out into the open The door slowly started to creak open, I crouched lowly and prepared to strike. “ Here we go again” I thought.

Chapter-16 Death

I lowered my weapon and breathed a heavy sigh of relief as Leo entered the room. "Leo! but...how did you find us?" Leo reached towards and picked what seemed to be a piece of lint off my arm. " A tracking device, The setorians aren't the only ones who can use magic." I grinned and stood up. "Marsa its alright its just Leo." Marsa appeared and smiled somewhat at Leo. " Yes but im afraid we have no time for talking. Setori isn't far behind us,Ramon is waiting outside." " So were going to find another place to hide?" " No the time for hiding is over. With Setori is Cetos, his second in command and the boy you have some sort of connection to. " Tensi? And Cetos is with him!? Im sorry Hayate...But now is the time to fight back, Were going to take our stand here and now Your friend will have to be sacrificed for this fight."

I paused for a second " So this is the only way then?" "I'm afraid so...He has been lost to the Setorians there is no turning back now. Im planning for you to fight him But as im sure you don't Know...Cetos is Ramon's brother, should he hesitate you will have to take him on." I tightened my grip on my sword and nodded. " Marsa please find the safest place you can to hide...and should something happen, you know what to do." Marsa nodded and disappeared once again into the house.


No sooner than Leo and I appeared at Ramon's side did Setori appear, along with Cetos and Tensi. " Can you take Cetos?" I whispered to Ramon. " Yeah,...hes mine." No sooner than Ramon replied did I charge at Tensi. He was caught off guard by my attack and could only manage to defend enough to avoid a direct attack. He was sent flying several feet back and to the ground. I rushed towards him and realized he'd dropped his weapon, before he could get to his weapon and stand up I slammed myself on top of him and gripped his throat. I raised my blade and prepared to deliver the final strike. Then out of nowhere it all caught up to me.

I was on top of my best friend about to kill him. A few days ago I was perfectly content traveling and enjoying life in general. Somehow I had come to be a part in the saving in this world. Sitorians,Setorians, Magic, the core, the angel, None of it...none of it made sense. But it didn't matter anymore. What happened could not be reversed. I raised my blade once more and prepared to deliver the cut once more. As I thrust my blade downwards A loud scream pierced the air. The scream threw off my aim and the blade only went through Tensi' shoulder. I turned in horror and saw Ramon in the air, Setori's disconfigured arm through his chest.

Chapter 16-continued (couldnt post all at once)
" Ramon!" I screamed at the top of my lungs and ran towards him. Leo was on the ground, badly injured. Cetos met me halfway and crossed blades with me. Ramon turned to me and for a split second grinned at me. " Take...care...of her." Ramon's last breath left his body as Setori's arm expanded three times its size, Increasing the size of the hole in Ramon's body. Ramon's lifeless body hung in mid air then slammed the ground. I thrust forward with all my might and knocked Cetos to the ground. Setori laughed and didn't attempt to stop me as I arrived at Leo’s side.

"I'll be fine...Take The angel and go..The core is waiting for you in what is left of Danirie. Please trust me. I will escape here alive and I will find you. Now go and do not look back." I Didn't care what Leo said. I rushed towards Setori with all the might I had left in my body. Setori pierced my left shoulder and the pain was excruciating. but it wasn't enough to stop me, Ramon was dead,Leo was injured and I wanted Setori dead. I pierced Setori's chest with my katana. But it wasn’t enough for me. As Setori stumbled slightly i retracted my blade and stabbed again. i repeated this several times until Cetos rushed forward and with one swift kick sent me flying several feet back.

I glanced towards my shoulder and saw that it was bleeding heavily, my eyesight became blurry as i saw Marsa come out of the house. But she wasn't quick enough to get away. Tensi appeared and grabbed Marda by her hair, then slung her over his shoulder. I tried with everything i had to stand up again. As i started to finally get up Setori drove his foot into my back grounding me again. "Trash." He muttered as he walked off. Marsa was yelling something but my hearing had faded. It was over, Setori Had Marsa. Ramon was dead and probably Leo as well, This was it. The end of the world was about to take place and there was no one left to stop it.
