My story xD
this started out as a pass time for when i was boared.. now I am enjoying writing it!
ALL COMENTS ARE APPRECIATED! CHAPTER 1 It was a hot summer day, one of those days that you feel like doing absolutely nothing besides go swimming and enjoy a nice ice cream cone. But for Hybrid, the day was not so nice. He was stuck outside in the archery range. The heat was starting to get to him… The sweat was rolling down his face. It landed on the dry dirt that lay around his feet. His teacher was observing him with his glass of iced tea. He made sure that Hybrid noticed every sip that he took with a loud slurping noise. Hybrid was getting better and better with each day that went by, but his teacher loved to throw him down. - Your slacking again! I will make you stay here until you stop slacking and use your full potential! -Yes master… Hybrid was tiered of all the negativity that his master would shout at him, but he was smart enough to accept it instead of yelling back and risk losing his spot within the academy. He decided to concentrate and he fired three direct shots. -There! Now if you did that every time we would not be here after class to practice! Now you are excused. Hybrid took his bow and brought it back to his room. He put it on its case. The arrows and quiver were on there hook. He went to the bathroom and took his shower. The cold water that came from the shower head hit his body and cooled him down. The water at the academy was cooled and heated by magic rocks that were kept by the teachers of ice and fire magic, they watched over them carefully they even teach in the room beside so they stay near incase of an emergency. Hybrid exited the shower and got dressed in the official uniform of the academy. He grabbed his “Introductory to Light Magic” text book and started to run towards his class… As Hybrid ran along the hallways, he saw many other students. Most of them were senior warriors, but he saw the odd mage or cleric. The academy was actually originally meant for warriors, they were being trained to protect there village. But eventually the academy became more renowned and eventually started archery courses. Then when magic went on the curriculum the academy became famous and it started to get harder to get in. Hybrid entered his class second before the bell rang and the doors all closed automatically. He took his seat and the class began. Hybrid was not fond of being in the light department, he wanted to train with black magic, but the academy makes every student take a test that show’s the students’ strength in both magic and weaponry. Hybrid was supposedly good with a bow and lances, and was good with light and healing magic… Although he did not agree with this because of his personal desire to be a dark swordsman… The class’ project was to create something out of magic, the whole class was struggling, and they had a hard time manipulating their magic into a physical form. Hybrid on the other hand was bored! He had already finished the project, and not only was it in physical form, but it had a mind of its own. The teacher, Master Lehk, noticed that Hybrid was not working. - Hybrid your project won’t get done on its own! -I know… Hybrid replied, -but I am already done! -DONE? How can you be done! You still have another two days to finish! -I know… but I finished it last night. - Alright if you think you can not improve then show us right now! -If that is what you want… Hybrid walked to the front of the class, Master Lehk walked to his desk and sat on it. “Ready when you are.” Hybrid took a deep breath and stated a magic spell "Kanzai-Repa-Tee!” A little ball of light appeared, it had neither face nor a body, it was just a floating ball. Master Lehk Laughed, “Is that the best you could do? I was expecting more!” Suddenly the ball started to move on its own, it launched a minor beam of light towards the teacher, the teacher got startled and fell off his desk and hit the hardwood floor below. -What the?! -Oh... Hybrid started, -Did I forget to mention its alive?? And can use any magic that I know?? The teacher mumbled and got back up. “Impressive… I did not expect you to create a Spirit in first year Light magic! I look forward to your next assignment! As for the rest of you get back to work! You have a lot of ground to make up!” Hybrid took his seat back and the ball of light followed him. “You can go back to sleep now, I will play with you after class!” the ball of light made a sharp faint sound then disappeared. Hybrid started to read his text book to pass the time. Chapter 2 The bell rung and Hybrid and the rest of the students pored into the hallway. They all returned to their respective rooms and prepared for lunch. Hybrid never participated in the local lunch. He always bought his lunch and returned to his room, every one thought he was just antisocial, but he knew that even if he was social the other students would never accept him... His secret was do dark, and if they ever figured it out... He arrived at the lunch room before the rush; he ordered his usual greek salad with a bottle of apple juice. He used his magic to keep the tray above his head so he did not have to carry it nor worry about running into some one and drop his meal. After he arrived at his room he set his meal down on his desk and summoned Hekatee. The shining ball of light came and was exited to see his master was in his room. He flew around the room exited to be out of the Spirit world. “Slow down buddy! You have the entire afternoon to play! Hekatee was young, he was created only last week. All he ever wanted to do was to play with his master. He had no interest in training with his magical abilities. Hybrid specifically made him to help him in combat. He knew that at the end of the year there was a giant competition. Only magic was allowed to be used, weapons would hurt to much, first one to fall would lose the round and be out of the competition. Hybrid knew that there was no summoning class, so he would have a major advantage and be able to fight two versus one with out breaking any rules. Hybrid had finished his lunch and started to play with Hekatee. He played a multitude of games with him, mainly training made fun, unlike his classes he used games to teach Hekatee the basics. First was a target practice. Hekatee would shot little blasts of light at Hybrids palm. If he hit at least seventy-five% of the time he would earn a reward, and Hekatee loved rewards. After words they would move on to power. Hekatee had to knock over a wooden statue, the weight increased every few days. Hybrid let Hekatee have a break, the ball of light went and sat down on a pillow. Hybrid started to think about his past, how he had gotten in to the academy, not to mention the fact that he is only twelve years old, the academy usually only takes students that are at least fifteen years of age. The Dean of the academy, Dean Groj, discovered Hybrid at his village. He was using magic to play with some sticks. The Dean asked Hybrid's parents if he could take him into the academy to further his abilities. He would be able to return in a couple of years to defend the village. Hybrid knew that he would someday return, all he could do now was work hard and study harder so he can return home and make his parents proud. There was a knock at the door. The ball of light suddenly got its energy back and it floated towards his master and stayed above his left shoulder. Hybrid opened the door and his friend, Atlas, was standing in the door way smiling. He walked in with out waiting for Hybrid to even let him in. - Hey bud! Atlas was exited. - Aced that fire test I had today! - Great! Hybrid was exited for him. - You studied hard for that one! - God yea! I was up to midnight last night just to review the basics... another four hours after that for the hard stuff. Atlas was not one of the brightest students... he was one of the strongest, but when it came to magic he failed miserably. Even Atlas himself knew it! But he continued to try. He often asked Hybrid for help, even though Hybrid was not a fire magic user, he had general knowledge about magic, so he could help. Atlas met Hybrid on their first day of class, he is Hybrid only true friend in the academy and Atlas depends on him a lot. If it was not for Hybrid, he would have flunked out of school a long time ago. After he was done with his complaining about how long he had to study, he noticed Hekatee who was above Hybrid shoulder. - What is THAT!?! Atlas was shocked and confused about the mysterious light that was on his friends shoulder. - Hmm? Oh, that's Hekatee, he is a spirit that I created for a class project. Hybrid started to lightly pat the top of the balls circular body. - You MADE him? - Yea, took a few days... but it was worth it! - That is awesome bud! - I know! It's nice to have him around. Hybrid looked at the clock, it was already 1:25 - Hey... don't you have a class in five minutes Atlas looked at the clock. - CRAP!! Got to go! Talk to you later Hyb! -See you later! As Atlas ran out the door Hybrid closed it and returned to training with Hekatee. “You’re going to get strong Hekatee, you will get strong and you will help me win this tournament at the end of the year... It's only a month away so we have a lot of work to do!” The sharp faint sound cam out of the ball again, and he started to fire random shots around the room He had to practice his speed accuracy was nothing if he could not shoot the target in time! Chapter 3 The bell rang once again, it was now 3:30 and the classes were done until night classes started. Hekatee had just returned to the Spirit world, Hybrid was left alone in his room. He was all alone with only his thoughts to keep him company. He thought about his family, his parents and both of his sisters. He was the youngest of three children, and his sisters never let him forget it. Hybrid missed his family, it has bin over 8 months since he saw them. The only thing that kept him going was the thought of seeing them at the tournament. It was the only day that family could step into the academy, besides for guided tours at the beginning of the year. Hybrids chain of thought was cut short when his Receiver started to ring. The receiver was not a phone, it had the same purpose but it was more sophisticated. I’s automatic, it rings once then it recognizes whether or not you’re in the room, and who is on the line. It asks you if you would like to accept the call or not. This time it was Hybrid’s hometown friend, Crid who was calling to see how thing’s were going. - Yo Hybrid! Bin a long time! - Crid?? Is that you!?! - The one and only! So how is life at the academy? - BORING! I miss having my friends around to have fun with… - You haven’t made a single friend?? - Well, I made one… but only one… and besides it’s not like we had history like me and you. - Haha, ya I guess not. Anyway I just called to let you know I will be coming to see you in a month! -REALY!? Great!! I can’t wait to see you again! - Yea I know! In the back ground a loud shattering noise could be herd. - What was that?!? - My little sister…she just dropped all of the dishes that were drying on the floor… - Haha, good old Leila! - Not exactly good... - Haha I think you should go clean that up. - Ya… see you in a month! - Yep bye! The receiver turned it self off and Hybrid moved back to his bed and laid down. He did not have any night classes that day so he had the nothing to do. He was bored Hekatee being gone made things worse. The clock struck 5:00 when Hybrid finally got up from his bed. He grabbed his bag and walked out the door. The hallways were almost empty; most of the kids were at the cafeteria to get their super. Hybrid walked the empty halls towards the library. He entered and headed straight for the Light section. The Library was separated into elemental sections. Each element that was taught at the school had its own section. The four elements were more popular. They consist of, Fire Wind Water and Earth, and then the two supporting elements of Light and Darkness only being added a few years ago. The light section was fairly small, and not many students neared its shelves. Hybrid walked towards the shelf that taught attacking spells. His class had already learnt beginner spells, like shooting a beam of light at your opponent and other basics spells. But Hybrid was looking for more challenging spells. He grabbed the book “Offensive Light Magic for Intermediates” and asked the librarian to put it under his name. The old lady touched the book and then let Hybrid continue. He never did understand how she memorized all of the books there were taken out… Hybrid went outside to a giant tree. It was the place where he went to read and no one ever sat under it besides him. It was as if they all knew it was his spot and stayed away from it. He sat down and began to learn the first spell. Most of the spells were just for training, not make use of in actual combat. He continued to read until he found a spell worthy of testing. He found one “Shining Abyss” It was designed to trick your enemies. It launches a small ball at them but when it hits it explodes leaving them hurt and covered in smock that blinds them, giving you a chance to attack them again. He decided that he would test it out and looked around for a target. He walked around the campus. Most of the trees were alive and healthy, and there was a rule that you could not hurt any of the plants. He finally found an old log that was at the far end of the campus. He was standing in the casting position he was taught, moved his right hand towards the sky, a small aura started to form around his hand. The spell was made to be silent, you activated it threw your mind and not your voice. A ball was starting to form, it was small and it looked like it was going to work! Hybrid quickly moved his hand towards the tree yelling out “Shining Abyss!” Chapter 4 The ball flew towards the log, it was amazingly fast! Hybrid could barely see the ball fly. It hit the Log, but nothing happened. He ran up to the log to see if he had even hit his target, and he saw that the ball hit dead on, there was a dent were the ball had hit, but no explosion… Something had gone wrong, but Hybrid did not know what he had done differently. He tried it several more times with to no avail. He could not get the explosion! “What am I doing wrong!? I am doing everything right! I don’t understand!” He sat down with the book, and noticed that he had skipped a page, they had bin stuck together when he had flipped threw it. It was an extra step that he forgot to do. He formed the ball above his head and had launched it. But to get the explosion, he needed to bring the ball down and bring it to the left side of his body and then launch it, The explosion came from a small source of magic that is only available threw ones left hip. A very strange source, but it was worth a try. Hybrid stood up and began casting again, the aura formed once more, and when the ball finally formed he brought it down to his left hip the ball started to shine. Hybrid launched it at the log, the ball had lost a tad of its speed, but when it did make contact with the log there was a giant flash followed by an explosion then a lot of smoke. Hybrid did not expect the light to be so bright and was blinded for a minute. By the time he regained his sight the smoke was gone and the log had bin moved back several feet, and was banged up but still intact. “This will be perfect for the tournament! It won’t destroy my opponents just knock them out the ring!” Hybrid grabbed the book and headed towards the academy, the sun was setting and the doors would soon lock. Hybrid rushed and barely made the limit. The doors closed behind him as soon as he walked in. “Second time today… I got to be more punctual.” He returned to his dorm room were he saw Atlas waiting outside his door for him. Chapter 5 will be up soon! keep checking back!
