Nintendo Announces Pay To Play Program
IchiBoss
02-24-2008
As of now, Playstation and Nintendo are the only two companies that are allowing free online play, but not for long.

Nintendo's Takashi Aoyama announced that they will be starting a "Pay To Play Program" which is pretty self explanatory. Games that have NWFC and are out now will not be affected by this, but games to come will soon...

Maybe this is only for MMORPGS and games that have downloadable content since Nintendo already confirmed downloadable content for games.

I think it's both a Rip off, and something good for Nintendo.

Hell, if I was owner of Nintendo, I'd do it. Why? Well, Nintendo fans are dedicated. You'd ALL pay to play Brawl online. YOU ALL KNOW IT. What would this do for Already Succeeding Nintendo (as someone previously said)? Well, it would fund more money into game production, and thus give them more money to make better games, better online service, unrestricted online service with Lobbies, score recs etc., and of course would just help them CRUSH the other companies.

On the other hand, it does make a big chunk out of your wallet that you will never see again. It's like renting an apartment as apposed to Mortgaging a house. if you rent, you don't put money into your house - you're just giving it away to the Superintendant. If you buy a house with a mortgage and a loan, then you pay off the loan, and keep the house - you can then sell the house and get your money back - usually more than you paid.

I would pay to play, but, it's really a pain in our asses. Some of us can't afford it and have better things to buy. :\ What if you didn't have time to play one month?

Ehhh! Check THIS link out! It says that you would not pay monthly but by game! And plus, you can still play wi-fi without playing, it just won't be as good if you did the pay and play thing. You get downloadables, and other things. This could mean a headset to talk on! This is going to be good. I would gladly spend an extra 10$ a game (at the most) for this!

You know how they said the longer the distance between you and the other person is the slower the gameplay be. There's probably only so much they can do with "free" wifi. Such things as more then 4 people in a match may change and it might not even affect the games we know and love.
