After a few months short of a year of legal battling, Manhunt 2 will finally be released in the UK on the Wii and PS2. The game was originally supposed to launch on July 13th 2007, but the British Board of Film Classification denied it's release, due to it's extreme violence and other objectionable content. This certified the game illegal to sell, causing the game not to be released.
Rockstar, the game's developer then resubmitted an edited version of the game, which was released in many countires, including the US and Canada, but denied by the BBFC once again. Rockstar then took the notorious game to the BBFC's Video Appeals Committee, who then recommended the game receive an 18+ rating. The BBFC then took the game to a high court however, saying that the law had been misinterpreted. The court agreed, and the game was sent back to the Appeals committee to be reviewed again.
Finally, after being reviewed again, the edited version of Manhunt 2 will be released in the UK with an 18+ rating.
Personally, this game doesn't interest me, and this news doesn't concern me as I live in North America, but I'm sure this news will excite UK gamers who have been standing by Rockstar's side through this whole ordeal, or just want to see what all the fuss is about. No release date has been specified as of yet.
