EA announces Monopoly for the Nintendo Wii

Recently today, The Casual Entertainment Label of Electronic Arts Inc. released details about the original game Monopoly for the Nintendo Wii.

Lets take a trip back to memory lane. Monopoly was first released as a board game in 1935 and has sold 250 million boards worldwide.

Like the board game, you have to try and buy out as much land properties as popular and collecting the most cash. You buy a property, and you buy houses for it. But there is a little twist to the game. This time, the gameplay is extremely faster that eliminates downtime freeing up players to wheel, and it features additional mini-games that involves all of the players to have even more fun! You can also unlock special boards.

As for multiplayer, you can only play four players locally. There is no online player with a versions of the game (Nintendo Wii and Playstation 2), which is very disappointing because it will be very difficult to always find four players to play with. You need four players to play Monopoly...

“EA is taking Monopoly's core gameplay and bringing it to life in a way never before imagined,” said Chip Lange, Vice President and General Manager of EA’s Casual Label. “With this dynamic take on Hasbro’s classic board game, we’ve accelerated the pace of play, added new interactive mini-game sequences and integrated multi-player moments designed to make Monopoly a non-stop party for the whole family.”

“It promises to be a very exciting fall for Monopoly fans worldwide,” said Mark Blecher, General Manager of Digital Media and Gaming at Hasbro. “EA has done a tremendous job of re-imagining the world’s most popular board game by remaining true to the traditional gameplay that millions of consumers have come to love while also creating new digital twists that can only be achieved in an interactive world. Rolling the dice and passing go will never be the same.”

No release date has been released yet, but it will most likely be released later on this month.

Will I be buying this game? No I won't be. This is a full $50.00 Wii game. I wouldn't pay $50.00 for a game where I can probably pick up at a Flea Market for like $10.00. And plus, there is no online play. If they included online play, many players might consider picking up this game.

If this game was a Wii Ware title that was being sold for 1000 Wii Points, I would consider downloading it.

Yeah, this game MIGHT have been worth it if it was online and was $30.

It sounds like a good idea, but no online, not worth it when you can pick it up and play it anywhere.

Gross...<_< forget it...I like Monopoly, but no online play means playing your friends and family over and over and over again, meaning that I keep winning XD.

And $50 is TOO overpriced for a board game <_<
