Introduction
As the series continues, you are reporting into the Galactic Federation, meeting up with three other bounty hunters. Enemies of new and old appear. Your goal to this mission is to destroy the Leviathan Seeds. Leviathan Seeds are meteor-like nests, and eggs for Phazon consuming life forms. You must destroy them before they hatch. After a Space Pirate raid, the three hunters reach for a defensive system, but Dark Samus returns to stop you. Luckily, you destroy the Seed before its impact on the planet, but you were infected with the Phazon energy. The more Phazon your body absorbs, the more powerful you get. This state is called Hyper Mode. Even though you're invincible and powerful, it sacrifices energy tanks to drop depending on how much Phazon you use. You are not the only one who achieves this power; every enemy can be corrupted- from machines to space pirates. The other bounty hunters have scattered and lost contact. You travel to other planets to destroy the Seeds; Samus has her own goal of encountering her allies as well.
Gameplay
In this shooter/action-adventure game, there are stunning controls! It feels as if you are Samus. The weapon systems are extended from the game. From electrical, health absorbing Grappling ropes, to high temperature beams and Phazon based weapons. The controls are quite simple to use for the game genre that it is; A button to shoot, B to jump, Wii remote to aim, and Nunchuk to move and lock on. It may seem a little tricky at first, but you get used to it pretty fast. Sometimes there are special things you need to do before accessing a room, like levers and touch pads for instance. You can still charge up the beams. There are also puzzles that require some thinking, usually leading up to a reward. The maps and planets are bigger than the maps from the previous games. If you ever need a boost of strength, use your Hyper Mode. You can use beams, Morph Ball bombs, missiles, and other weapons in Hyper Mode.
Replay Value
After you beat the game, you can try to get more items to unlock better endings. Each item is worth 1 percent of completing the game and unlocking endings. Once you’ve beaten it, the Hyper Mode difficulty is unlocked, allowing you to play the story far more challenging then the other difficulties. If you’re like me, you would go for the Hyper Mode story and play it, which is how you truly play Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.
Sound
The sound is quite amazing. Everybody can speak, except Samus. The other bounty hunters and Galactic Federation Marines can talk to you. The music is extraordinary; the classical boss music is reborn with a new style. Most of the songs are similar to a techno- rock style. Each world has its own music, varying on location. The sound effects and creatures’ cries are great! If you feel like listening to the music, there is a soundtrack feature in the game, but some may be available when you get further in the story.
Graphics
The graphics are simply beautiful. Metroid Prime 3 has some of the best graphics for the Nintendo Wii console. The environments look very realistic and may I say, awesome! The creatures look amazing, and planets too. This is one of the best features of the game.
Overall
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is an overall must-have Wii game! The hours of gameplay may last you awhile, and the graphics and sound are great! I recommend you buy this game. It’s a great way to end the series! You should defiantly buy this game if you played the previous Metroid Prime games. The ending also leaves a few exciting mysteries! It’s one of the best games for the Wii console. Nintendo should be proud of this achievement.
