The Official Writer of the Month is now underway for July. Every month there will be a new style of writing announced along with a new theme to write about. The idea is brought to you by your very own Smith along with myself, and we hope you enjoy this newcoming contest.


1) Absolutely no Plagiarism. If you are found cheating by using someone elses work, you will be disqualified from the current contest and any other contest following after that.
2) Members will be allowed to enter two peices. Make sure that your entries follow the specific guidelines of the rules.
3) Flaming is a no-no. Do not tell a member that their work is horrible, for that will give you a full disqualification from the Writer of the Months to come.
4) Be creative. You are being judged by what you write, and a little inspiration is ok, but make sure that its your own work, and its all from you.
5) Any poems that you have made in the past are not allowed to be entered in any WOTM's to come. This will ensure that all members have to work to get the title of Writer of the Month, and no one is treated any different.
6) Have fun! There will be many different styles and themes to keep you interested and having fun.

*Please make sure that you read the rules carefully. This will make sure that you understand when posting a peice of work it follows the guidelines of that month.*

Summer is still in play, but for some, School always sits in the back of their minds. Whether you want to go back, or you want to stay out, let it all out on the keyboard, and most importantly have fun!

Meh, I'm startin high school in September, so I thought I'd write about that...


The curtains are tightly closed.
The desks empty and dark, lined with chewed up gum.
Binders are filled with brand new binder paper, still fresh with that new smell.
The dim, flickering lights are swarmed with small flies buzzing about.
The door creaks open, and footsteps are heard.
The homeroom teacher trudges in and introduces herself and the subject of the class.
The brains of all the kids in the class shift into auto pilot
Their attention shifts focus from the teacher to mindlessing drumming on the desk
Low voices start to be heard from one friend to another
It's going to be another long year
Even though it's only the first year

First entry.

Here we go again,Dragged back here for another 9 months.
Sure we leave in 8 hours, maybe abit more maybe abit less.
But our minds stay there, sleeping and taking in all the information that was spewed at them.
Some consider it Paradise, I consider it a torture chamber.
Ears abused by high shrill voices and false laughter.
And the food you'll be served?, I dont think it can be called food.
But I suppose its not all bad.
You can joke around with your friends, As long as you don't get caught.
You can turn studying for a test, into an excuse to have friends over.
Who Knows? Maybe You'll even find love.
No I suppose school isn't all bad, But compared to summer...Its just pure hell.

Summer's coming to a close
For yearbook pictures you'll have to look nice,
The quad is filling up,
With unhappy faces and sleepy eyes.
Sports and clubs are in full swing,
The "cool" people are making sure they have their bright pretty colored stuff.
Counting the hours until it's time to leave,
A slacking student is given a second chance.
Friends are talking once again,
About their schedules,
About their teachers,
About how they wish they could sleep 'till after nine fifty nine.

I'll enter....

School. The halls filled, sadly the office too.
Screaming kids, teachers struggling to maintain order.
Some come ready, some do not.
A chaotic place to be.
For some it is like a prison, but for me, it is an oppurtinity.
An oppurtunity to open doors for a college and a future career.
So I come applied and attentive to the teachers as everyone else runs wild.

I know, it sucked. I'll enter my second one later.

first entry

I walk when the halls are empty it seems,
On my own with nothing to do.
I see others with friends in groups,
Along the sidewalks, rooms, and halls,
But as for me i still stand alone,
In the prison that binds me so tight.
When i hear the bell i brighten up though,
For then i know that i am alike the others,
With there happiness to be able to escape.

lol i dont think its that good actually, im not good at free verse much. (im saying this and im going to be commented most likely :P)

The prison that binds us all together,
The freedom we cannot have outside the gate,
The effort we put in to prove we are alike,
The work we all hate but must complete,
Together with those you'd never abandon,
Laughing off the pain we must face alone,
Worrying over the grade we've received,
Proud over the things we never did before,
A prison to those who wish they had more,
A freedom to those who have no peace of mind,
An effort that may not always pay off,
But school is a place I wouldn't want to give up.
