I doubt it would ever happen, like the others say, Nintendo makes way to much money off of Mario for them to even think that >_>;;
Link is awesome no doubt, but THE number one mascot? No way.

Dont think they will, Mario is, simply... the worldwide video game king, however, i do like Way More Zelda Games than Mario´s the only ones i´ve actually really liked as much as Zelda´s are Super Mario World (SNES) and Mario Sunshine, besides those, Link > MArio

Nintendo can't replace mario he's been on Nintendo for a really long time. He was the ifrst one for it. Way sooner than Link. That would be a shame if Mario got replaced. Are you sure you heard them correctly?

mario will not be replaced by link. unless tehy make a Legend of Zelda party. Legend of Zelda kart. etc. Mario not only ahs tehre main games but a TON of side games.
Mariostriker Linkstriker? mario gold Link gold (lol) Tennis Baseball. i mean link only has its main game. Mario has alot of side games!

Agenda has it right, Nintendos product line surfaced the rumor once they saw the new shipment of Nintendo signs with link on them. They were meant for the newest release of the upcoming Zelda game in 09' from what my manager said.
But to correct you Agenda, if they ever, ever took Mario and replaced him with link, it wouldn't be link racing, it would be ZeldaKart, ZeldaTennis and such, no game has ever been called link anything without legend of zelda. I will keep this up for discussion on this until someone decides this needs to be closed..
